New Teen 5-Day Summer Intensives for Teens will help your teen get explore their creative intuition, get out of their shell, and get out of the house!
Since 1981, iO Theater has been the premiere destination for training in the art of longform improvisation. Over the last 40+ years, iO has trained tens of thousands of students, with a long list of notable almuni who have gone on to have successful careers in the entertainment industry across TV, film, podcasting, writing, cartooning, theater, and more.
This summer, we are proud to offer multiple 5- Day Teen Improv Intensives designed for young aspriring performers ages 12-18. No experience necessary for this fun, supportive, and creative program that will help your teen build their public speaking skills, forge a creative identity and help them make some new friends, all while exploring and learning about this historic Chicago artform.
Week long intensive camp-like-class is ideal for teens interested in honing their comedic chops and getting a crash course in the world of Chicago improv! This intensive meets onsite at the historic iO Theater in Lincoln Park and runs 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday (lunch break at 12:30pm each day) and culminates in a showcase open to friends and family at 5:00pm on Friday, June 27.

This collaboration provides a supportive environment for teens to explore their creativity, build confidence, and learn the fundamentals of comedic performance with one of iO’s renowned instructors at Mudlark Theater in Evanston! Join us from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, July 21st through August 1st for this amazing program, which culminates with a performance at the historic iO Theater on August 2nd at 4:00 PM!”
