Rob O’Connor hails from South Bend, IN, which is where they make clouds and sadness. At the age of 18, he promptly left that seething den of malaise and moved around from Cincinnati, to Colorado, to Spain working as a freelance journalist. His work appeared in countless publications worldwide from the US to Argentina to China. After a brief stint as a humor columnist for the magazine “CN Weekly,” he decided to move to Los Angeles and try his hand at Comedy, blowing thousands upon thousands of dollars on classes at Second City, iO West, The Nerdist, and UCB.
Rob has worked as a writer for ABC Digital and WGN. He has also written and directed short films that have appeared in The Omaha Film Festival, Phoenix Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, Vail Film Festival, and Austin Film Festival.
He can currently be seen as a writer/performer on the iO West Main Stage sketch team, The Mutiny. He also commits improv with the Second City House Ensembles, and his long-time indie team, Squire, who currently host the Student Harolds and The Gauntlet on Saturday nights at iO West.
Also, once he fought a monkey for a ham sandwich.
