How: The actual tournament will be similar to a cage match. Each show will be timed and there will be a visible timer for the improvisers to see. After each team performs once the audience will be given an opportunity to vote for which team they want to win. During the final championship there will be a “Supreme Court” incase of a close “election”.
The final two teams will be chosen May 15th & 22nd giving each team plenty of time to prepare for the final championship which will take place at the LA Improv Comedy Festival at iO West. That said all the performers on both teams will be official performers of the LA Improv Festival and will be encourage to promote their final championship show on the Main Stage. In addition, the team that wins State of the Union will receive a Main Stage run in June.
