TOP SHELF performs the JTS BROWN, a “philosophy of play” developed by Craig Cackowski that emphasizes theatricality and unpredictability in improv. By removing certain constructs such as the sweep edit and the walk-on, and allowing scenes to return at any time, the form becomes a deconstructed and fluid performance where every entrance and exit triggers transformation. During these transitional moments players have the option to choose a new character, inhabit an element of the environment, or exit the scene. The show begins with a shared character monologue showcasing the group ownership of roles and introducing the players. This dynamic, inventive and rarely presented form will have you on the edge of your seat.
