The 13th Annual Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival

Aug 2nd-8th 2015

On August 2nd- 8th, 2015, iOWest will host the best and brightest that comedy has to offer at the 13th Annual LA Improv Comedy Festival.

This week long event will feature shows simultaneously on three stages, including competition categories, celebrity headliners and judges, as well as a variety of comedy workshops.

The highlight of the festival will be the plethora of performances by groups and comedians, from the U.S and abroad, covering all things improv comedy; there will also be special celebrity guest performances and appearances that are not to be missed.

In addition to the featured shows, there will be competition categories for performers: Harold, Cage Match, Duos and Stand Up.  Participants can enter multiple categories and compete for prizes awarded to the winners of each category. Prizes include stage time at the iconic Comedy Central Stage and iOWest and networking opportunities with celebrity judges and more.

This year’s festival will also feature the 7-DAY IMPROV SHOW

(Setting The World Record For Longest Improv Show):

Be a part of history as we set the Guinness Book of World Record for Longest Continuous Improv Show. Starting on Sun Aug 2nd, the first day of the Festival and running continuously throughout, day and night, for seven days straight ending on Sat Aug 8th, the closing night of the Festival. This improvised show based off one single suggestion will last a total of 150 hours. Nothing of this feat has ever been attempted before (the previous record being 70 hours) and we plan on setting an untouchable number. Longtime improvisers, Rob O’Connor & Keith Saltojanes will spearhead this insane show.

In addition to the performance aspect of the festival, iOWest will also be offering numerous workshops that cover such topics as: individual and group improv techniques, stand up, casting & more! Performers of all skill levels and experience are welcome to attend. These workshops will be led by current iOWest instructors as well as special guests who are currently working in the industry; credits include SNL, Conan, Key and Peele, Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kids In The Hall, The Emmys, Shameless, Cougar Town, MADtv and many more.

We are pleased to honor iO alumni Chris Farley by naming The Chris Farley House as the festival’s official beneficiary. A percentage of all festival show and workshop total revenue will be donated to the house, a state-certified residential treatment program for recovering men and women, located in the late comedian’s hometown of Madison, WI. The facility offers sober, structured living, as well as case management and counseling, to assist with the transition to productive independent living and employment.
