Dave Asher has been the Music Director of iO since 2006. Seven nights a week Dave plays the piano at iO. He underscores improvised songs, sets moods with original jazz-like spontaneity, and often works in references to familiar songs and themes.
Dave began his improv career as a performer on an iO house team from 1996-1999. He then moved to Amsterdam to do sketch and improv there from 1999-2004. While in Amsterdam, Dave began to record music and developed a sonic concept — Melody Nife — that was designed to exist primarily on the internet. Dave writes, performs, and produces original albums that represent this singer-songwriter-in-cyberspace.
